The Blue - White Classic is intended to showcase all the Kangaroos and provide the coaching staff with a chance to see every Rooboy in a game situation. It doubles as a chance for the Kangaroo faithful to their Rooboys one extra time. That is unless Mother Nature decides she has other plans. She threw a few lightning storms and a fair amount of rain at them but did that deter them? NAY!

In conditions that were reminiscent of the famous Lake Elmington game from 2007, and while most Nashvillians were likely staying warm and dry indoors, those knuckle-headed Rooboys not only played this game, but reveled in the sloppiness of it all!

The hour leading up to the game had a fair amount of lightning, which did postpone the start of the match for around 30 minutes, but in now way did it deter or even slow down the fun. When head coach Marty Thompson and umpire Grant White agreed it was safe to take the field, the fun began. And what treat for those faithful who braved the weather to get their footy fix.

The Blue team took away the slight wind advantage riding the strength of Gilberto "Chimi" Ortiz and Luke "Ooga Booga" Nemeth each kicking a pair of majors. On the other end, Brien "Kitten Blandford scored for the White. In the second quarter, Blandford again tallied but had no other support. Meanwhile, Mischa Nemeth and Jeff "Peeps" Persson both tallied on crumbs off left boots, stretching the Blue lead by another goal.

In the second half, the Blue again showed their disdain for kicking into the wind, getting two more tallies from Ortiz, another from Mischa Nemeth, and closed the scoring with Mike "Goon" Guinsbug recording his first ever major as a Roo. Meanwhile, the White was led by club powerhouses Dee "Weeman" Vsetecka and Damian "What's Serong with that" both notching their first. In the final frame, the Blue got a single tally from Mischa Nemeth, and held on as the White squad controlled most of the play, getting a four majors.

The game was quite well played in spite of the wet conditions. Other standouts on the day included Kevin "Spoons" Smyth who took at least half a dozen marks in defense, Dave Ackley who opened up his teammates for scoring shots with a number of good shepherds, Justin "JD" Davis anchoring the Blue back line and picking up ever loose ball, Jesse "the Body" Wells with a number of bone crunching tackles, Matt Wheatley running into space all day and clearing the ball into the forward line, and Todd "Tonka" Haralson showing no fear in the back line depsite getting slung twice by the Prez!

In the end, the day was a huge success and everyone contributed, whether on the scoreboard, or by doing the one-percenters. As the young Roos head up to Chicago, maybe they will be hoping for a little bit of rain, now that they have shown they care completely at comfort in the wet.
