The Nashville Zoo Run Run on Saturday, January 23 is the Nashville Kangaroos first event of 2010. This is a perfect opportunity to launch your new year's fitness plan with a little help from our friends at Nashville Zoo.

The annual Zoo Run Run is an officially chip-timed 5K route that will take you on a mad dash through the park. The "Run" is also a walk - families can bundle up, grab their strollers and come out to experience Nashville Zoo in winter. Whether running or walking, register for the Zoo Run Run today.

This will be the third year that the Nashville Kangaroos have participated in the most fun race in Middle Tennessee. Jeff "Peeps" Persson was the fastest Roo in 2008, finishing in 25:10. In 2009, Daniell "Whippet" Leipply finished strongly in 21:30 and was immediately recruited by coach Marty Thompson. Debbie "Blue Flyer" Warner was the fastest female Roo in both 2008 and 2009.

If you think you can be one of the fastest Roos in 2010, remember to add a ChampionChip to your registration so you get an official finishing time. Bragging rights are worth the $1.50!

Check-in for runners and walkers commences at 1.30 pm. The Zoo Run Run starts at 3 pm. The Zoo Run Run will be followed by a post-event celebration at 4 p.m. Registration includes dinner for participants, and spectators are welcome to purchase a meal for an $8 donation to the Zoo.

Proceeds benefit Nashville Zoo, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.

Do not miss this! Register today at the Nashville Zoo web site http://www.nashvillezoo.org/events_detail.asp?eventID=5.
